Services
Meditation Teaching and Body-Inquiry Mindfulness +
Combining a variety of healing modalities including meditation, yoga nidra, guided visualization, hypnotherapy, nervous system therapies, body-centered inquiry, embodied heart practices and nurturing, nature and connectivity practices, I provide personalized guidance and techniques to help individuals come into a sense of wholeness, peace, and acceptance for life as it is. A sense of well-being despite conditions allows for a deeper understanding self and others, and fresh perspective that you may have never considered. This is a one-on-one service that is highly personalized and has helped many come into a new perspective in their lives, learning to live with a deep well of inner wisdom and compassion.
I also offer a more traditional practice of teaching you to meditate in the mindfulness tradition. This can be both taught one-on-one or in groups.
I offer the same services listed above for those living with chronic illness, and chronic pain. Those who live with chronic conditions experience mindfulness and therapeutic practices differently due to the chronic stress they are under, and the past and current physical symptoms that affect every aspect of their lives. Because I have dealt with chronic illness for 20 years, and also have learned to live with them through a variety of ways, I bring a deep understanding and complete empathic knowledge to anyone living with a chronic condition.

These individualized sessions become a force for peace because it frees people from being manipulated by external authority, cultural roles, ideologies and the internal oppression of self attacking and shame. This freeing has to do with an ability to pause, rest, reflect, relax into, and bring deep compassion to the on-going situation and create a space in which an embodied sense of peaceful change can form.

With tending, your body knows how to find wholeness. You only have to attend to its signals, actively include the associations that emerge, move with body memories that need to complete, and allow present-moment movement inquiries to inform you as to your direction.” This holistic approach to learning and responding invites us into a course in emergent body wisdom, a re-learning after culture trained us to ignore and judge our body. Rather than categorizing our experience, we need to learn how our body understands that events in the present moment have associations from the past. Honoring body signals, associations, memories and present moment experience is key to ushering ourselves into embodiment.

Integrative Self-Compassion and Heart Practices
Compassion and heart practices involve developing and extending care and goodwill towards yourself and others, particularly when experiencing suffering or difficulty. These practices often include heart meditations, and many modalities that cultivate a broader sense of empathy, connection, and positive emotions such as loving-kindness and forgiveness. Key heart practices include loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, which, through consistent practice, lead to a more open, resilient, and nurturing heart.

Most often, just noting and inquiring into what’s happening inside ourselves is often not enough. We need to embrace ourselves. While mindfulness tells us, ‘Hold your suffering in spacious awareness,’ the wisdom of self-compassion says, ‘Be kind to yourself when you suffer.’ Self-kindness opens a new path to healing. We learn that spacious awareness is a loving awareness. Warmth, kindess, and gentle tenderness creates space. Mindfulness invites us to ask, ‘What am I experiencing right now?’ Self-compassion invites us to ask, ‘What do I need right now?’”

Maintaining self-compassionate body practices moves us through the rest of our life with grace and courage. Maintenance is the key to a successful practice: Learning about our personal values and continually reaffirming our soul’s purpose helps us to stick to a regimen of self-care because we see our practice in the context of our life goals. Ongoing community support and developing beautiful daily rituals for ourselves shepherd us through our lives with grounding, nourishment, and a sense of meaningful connection. Ongoing practice builds and maintains our emotional resilience muscle. One-by-one we change the cultural paradigm of stress, and as we do that we give others the permission to do the same.

I help guide you with a soft and powerful practice of self-compassion and self-kindness, employing mindful and embodied approaches to integrate compassion into your daily life more fully, oftentimes transforming your relationship to yourself, others, the world, and your life in surprising, profound, way. As you begin to re-experience a visceral connection with the need of your body, there is a brand new capacity to warmly love the self. You experience a new quality of authenticity in your caring, which redirects our attention, with a ripple effect, to every aspect of your life.

Guided activities include discussion of topics, experiential exercises, meditation, guide-student interaction exploring what comes up in a safe environment, and home practices. Self-Compassion and Heart Practice is an opportunity to explore how we typically respond when difficulties arise in our lives and to learn tools for becoming a warm and supportive companion to ourselves.
